Welcome!
We are very glad that you browse our web site, and thank you for being concerned as much as we are about saving the Russian language for your children.
We know that many Russian-speaking families that live here in Scotland speak Russian at home, read Russian books for their children, but do not take them to Russian school for one reason or the other. It often happens the when children start being among their peers, parents, and teachers more often, they start realizing that their language differs from the language everyone speaks around them. Some time later, they start forgetting their language or just refuse to speak Russian as they think it is embarrassing.
That is why we are confident that to learn to speak and write in Russian, it is better for children to attend a Russian school where they are surrounded by a caring Russian atmosphere.
Experience also shows that most families that move to Scotland spend so much time making sure that they themselves and their children fit the new world, that they stop Russian education for several years. Unfortunately, it is still a generally held opinion, that by continuing teaching our children Russian at the same time as they learn English, we will hold them back and make it harder for them to get used to their new home.
It's been proved that children who know more than one language have more abstract thinking ability than those who only speak one language, and those who continue studying both languages are actually better in general education. They are proud to be able to speak both languages fluently and they can easily switch from one language to another, which makes them more self-confident.
Proficiency in Russian will allow your children to fully experience and appreciate their Russian heritage and culture and the riches of Russian culture.
Taking your children to our Russian school does not mean that we will only try to surround them with Russian culture. We will try to help them to understand both worlds.
We teach children of different age categories and different education levels and we would be very pleased if our school would be useful for your children as well.
We also welcome everyone who is interested in the extensive Russian culture.
